Terry J. Townsend, Architect

Pleasanton

Terry J. Townsend, Architect is a full service architectural firm. This includes initial feasibility concept design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. Since the architect is usually the main consultant on a project, Terry assembles and coordinates the team of qualified civil engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers and landscape architects that may be necessary depending on the project. He also advises and represents the client during the necessary submittals and presentations to planning departments, HOA review boards, planning commissions and city council hearings, and through the permit processing requirements.

Although his experience also includes small scale office, land planning, and large scale development plans, Terry has spent his career studying residential architecture and has tailored his services around that, specializing in quality residential architecture. This includes new construction as well as renovation, remodeling, and restoration. He works within each individual’s budget and scope, no matter how large or small, always striving to get the highest quality of design returned on the initial investment.

The City of Pleasanton and Alameda County have been lead players in the “Build it Green” program for new construction several years prior to the State of California adopting the “Cal Green” requirements in January 2011. As a result, Terry already has years of experience implementing “Green” features in the majority of his projects. He evaluates each project in terms of value engineering and advises his clients on its overall resource footprint, how and where to use sustainable or recycled materials, alternative energy options, and passive conservation techniques.

Finally, because of his background in architectural history, Terry also serves as an architectural consultant and sits on several neighborhood design review boards reviewing the consistency of proposed projects in terms of their compliance with adopted design guidelines and conditions.
