Alameda Two Unit Restoration

Originally built as a single family residence, this home in Alameda had gone through a series of additions and alterations that eventually left it in a state of disrepair and neglect. At one point in time, the house was raised several feet for the installation of a new foundation. This left a large, full height crawl space. The City of Alameda eventually red-tagged the structure for numerous code violations.

I was retained to bring back a cohesive architectural style compatible with the existing neighborhood. In addition, a complete overhaul of the interior was in order, including the design of a legal second unit on the lower level. The final design comprised an 1803 square foot 3-bedroom unit on the upper level and a 1757 square foot 4-bedroom unit on the lower level.
